Carolyn Flythe Vaughan, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, NC. 

Carolyn was born June 3rd, 1933 in Creeksville, NC. She was a member of Creeksville Baptist Church at which she sang in the church choir for many years. She loved her church and was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Carolyn graduated from Conway High School and was retired from the NC Department of Social Services.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, John Stanley Vaughan Sr, her parents, George Flythe Sr. and Reno Lanier Flythe; sister, Ophelia Flythe Turner. Surviving are her son John S. Vaughan, Jr. and wife, Karen and her brother George Flythe Jr.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff who work at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They are grateful for their skilled care and being there with Carolyn in her final days. 

Reverend Andy Sloan will conduct funeral services at Creeksville Baptist Church on Sunday January 12, 2020 at 2pm. Burial will immediately follow in Jackson Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Church from 1pm until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Creeksville Baptist Church.
