Marie Garner Grissom 90, of Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday October 13, 2018.

Marie, a native of Halifax County, was the daughter of the late Joseph Totten and Myrtle Mae Clippard Grissom.

She was also preceded in death by her husband James Cecil Grissom.

She was a graduate of the Roanoke Rapids High School class of 1946. She retired after many years, working for J.P. Stevens and then the Bibb Company. S

he was a longtime member of Rosemary United Methodist Church.

Marie is survived by her two sons, James “Bobby” Grissom and his wife, Sue of Farmville and David Grissom and his wife, Deborah of Roanoke Rapids; six grandchildren, Christy Grissom, James Robert Grissom, Jr and his wife Katie, Alex Ipock and his wife, Christine, Tommy Harris and his wife, Melissa, Amy Grissom, Neal Grissom, Brandon Grissom and his wife, Blair and April G. Jones and her husband, Matt; fourteen grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, with Rev. Steve McElroy officiating.

The family will receive friends at the graveside after the service.
