Maurice Ashton “Cool Breeze” Harris, Sr. 64, died Thursday, February 14, 2013.

Maurice was born August 29, 1948, the son of the late Roland Shelly Harris, Sr. and Louise Young Harris. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Norean Bukovina and his brothers George, Paul Lane, Charles and Albert Harris.

He is survived by his daughter, Rita “ ReRe” Harris Allen and her husband, Robbie of Roanoke Rapids; his son Maurice Ashton “Reese” Harris, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids; two grandsons Dylan Robertson and Marcus Pierce Allen;  four sisters Sandra Neal of Henrico; Roslyn Greenauer of Depaw, NY; Debra Simmons of Norfolk, VA and Eugenie Wilbey and her husband Butch of Gates, NC;  Brothers Roland Shelly Harris, Jr. and his wife Rose of Norfolk, Va.; Kenneth Harris of Norfolk, Va. ;Robert Harris and his wife Carol of Farmville, Va.; Richard Harris of Chesapeake, Va.; Galen Harris and his wife Pat of Elizabeth city and Neal Harris and his wife Linda of Norfolk, Va. Several  nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. His loving and caring niece Katherine Fast and special friend Buddy Allen both of Roanoke Rapids.

Memorial  services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends following the service and other times at his daughter’s home at 1107 Georgia Ave in Roanoke Rapids.
