Donnie Lynn Gums, 62, died Thursday, March 5, 2025. 

He was born August 26, 1963 in Halifax County to the late Robert Warren Gums and Ella Christine Harris Gums.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Martin.

Donnie Retried from the Roanoke Rapids Fire Department. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with his canine companion Drake. He loved life, and his family deeply and lived. Donnie lived his life by his own rules.

Left to cherish his memory, his son Robbie Gums of Goose Creek, SC, Daughter Stephanie Dailey and fiance Charles Sonnier of Winnsboro, LA., sister Jeanne Harris and husband Steve of Emporia, VA., Brother Larry Gums and wife Susan of Roanoke Rapids, NC., Grandchildren, Brock Blanford and Weston Dailey, along with several nieces and nephews. 

Donnie was blessed with two close friends Neill Graham, and Randy Joyner.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC with Pastor Jason Yeatts officiating.

The family will receive following the service at the cemetery.
