Roanoke Rapids Fire Department Chief Jason Patrick Wednesday introduced new hires to city council Wednesday — two of them who have worked with the department previously.

There are now three shift positions open, Patrick said.

The hires are:

D’artagnan Beets — the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Beets of Roanoke Rapids.

He is a  2017 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and a graduate of William Peace University.    

He is a second-generation public servant. His father is a retired Emporia police officer.

He is currently assigned to Station 1 on B-Shift where he is working with Lieutenant Jonathan Woodall.  

Colby Edwards — the son of Danny and Nettie Edwards. 

He is a 2023 graduate of RRHS and during his senior year he served as major of the JROTC.  He has been serving with the Gaston Fire and Rescue for the past year.

He is a second-generation public servant. His father is a retired state Highway Patrol trooper.

He is currently serving at Station 1 on C-Shift working with Lieutenant Chad Turner.  

Nathaniel High — the son of Robert High and Angela Hinson of Triplet, Virginia.  

He is a 2023 graduate of Brunswick Senior High in Lawrenceville.  

He is a member of the Triplet Fire Department where he began as a junior firefighter five years ago.

He is currently serving at Station 1 on A-Shift with Lieutenant Bryan Hollowell.  

Rashad Norwood — the son of Walter Williams and Melissa Fenner of Rocky Mount.  

He is a 2020 graduate of Rocky Mount Preparatory were he excelled in football and wrestling.  He is currently assigned to Station 1 on B-Shift where he is working with Woodall.  

Corey Jenkins — the husband of Jayme Jenkins, with whom they have three children.

Jenkins, who is not pictured, has served in multiple fire departments in the area for around 15 years and has been employed with the RRFD in the past.

Vincent Mollicone — the husband of Taylor Mollicone, with whom they have two children.

He has served over 12 years with the town of Halifax Fire Department and has been previously employed with the RRFD.  

He is currently serving at Station 2 on B-Shift with Lieutenant Brandon Shearin.
