Corporal S. McKimmey spotted Williams without a seat belt and tried to block him. Williams, however, maneuvered and drove the wrong way on a one-way stretch of Second Street, traveling an estimated 80 miles per hour in a 35 zone.

He tried to make a right turn onto Washington Avenue but lost control of the Chevy Cobalt he was driving and hit a light pole and building.

The car was totaled and Williams sustained injuries which sent him to the hospital for treatment.

Davis said Dominion Energy estimated damages to its infrastructure at $20,000.

Williams will face charges of speeding, careless and reckless driving, driving while license revoked, no seat belt, traveling the wrong way on a one-way street, aggressive driving, failure to maintain lane control and misdemeanor flee to elude.
