The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Bobby Martin:
Monday the narcotics division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Roanoke Avenue and Oak Street.
During the stop, agents developed probable cause to search the vehicle and located a total amount of 62 grams of marijuana and various paraphernalia.

Taurs Price, 27, of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with possession with intent to sell or distribute, felony possession of schedule VI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a window tint violation.
He received a $10,000 bond and November 17 court date.
Monday the narcotics division, along with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, conducted a traffic stop in the area of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and Marshall Street.
The driver, Omar Ponton, 29, of Roanoke Rapids, refused to stop for law enforcement and was seen throwing items from the vehicle.
Once the vehicle stopped, the items that were thrown from the vehicle were located and police say it appeared he attempted to destroy evidence.
Ponton was charged with altering/destroying evidence, possession of schedule II controlled substance, failure to heed for lights and sirens, and driving while license revoked.
He received a $10,000 bond for the stop and a $5,000 bond for an order for arrest. He has a November 17 court date.
