The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Rocky Mount Police Department are looking for a man who stole a utility trailer from Huckleberry Bottom Road Saturday and attached it to a van which had been reported stolen.

The crime occurred around 2 p.m. after deputies responded to the area upon receiving a report of the theft, according to Chief Deputy Scott Hall.

The victim witnessed the theft and followed the person as he drove off pulling the trailer on a 1999 white Dodge van.

The victim followed the suspect as deputies were attempting to intercept. The suspect stopped and unhooked from the trailer and fled in the white van. The victim captured a picture of the suspect as he fled.

Deputies later learned that the white van had been reported stolen to the Rocky Mount Police Department.

The suspect is wanted in connection to both the theft of the van and the trailer.
