A Roanoke Rapids man was charged Monday on a probation violation and other counts, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall said around 2 a.m. Monday Deputy A. Holt responded to assist the North Carolina State Highway Patrol on a traffic stop at Highway 158 and Little Deep Creek Road.

Investigation led to the discovery that Jeremy Currin, 44, of Roanoke Rapids, was wanted by probation and parole for a probation violation and was in possession of two handguns while being a convicted felon.
Currin was also found in possession of methamphetamine during his arrest.
Currin was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center for possession of a firearm by felon, felony possession of Schedule II and possession of a controlled substance on jail premises.
He remains in custody on a $20,000 bond with an April 20 court date pending.
