Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:
Halifax County Sheriff’s Office
Chief Deputy Scott Hall said this morning around 10 Deputy David Taylor was patrolling in the area of Weldon when he initiated a stop on Highway 301 near Dogwood Drive for a window tint violation.
During the stop, the driver, James Randolph Williams, 21, of Roanoke Rapids fled on foot after the initial encounter with Taylor.
Further investigation led to the discovery of 76 grams of marijuana in the center console of the vehicle and a firearm underneath the driver’s seat.
Williams was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by felon, felony possession of marijuana, resisting a public officer, possession of paraphernalia, and driving while license revoked.
He received a $20,000 secured bond and December 16 court date.

On Wednesday around 4 p.m. Sergeant Earl Richardson was patrolling the Enfield area when he observed a motorist driving left of center.
Richardson initiated a stop on Highway 301 near Trestle Road just outside of Enfield.
Further investigation led to the discovery of more than 100 grams of marijuana and a stolen handgun.
Richardson arrested and charged Quentin Wright, 26, of Enfield, with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a vehicle to store marijuana, and possession of a stolen firearm.
He received a $5,000 secured bond and December 16 court date.
Roanoke Rapids Police Department
Chief Bobby Martin reported on Wednesday shortly before 9 p.m. Officer J. Melvin was on patrol in the area of Hamilton and Eleventh streets when he noticed a vehicle turn onto Eleventh in front of him.
Melvin’s attention was drawn to the registration plate, which when checked came back revoked with no insurance.
While speaking with the driver, identified as 23-year-old Chrishawn Harvey of the Scotland Neck area, Melvin noticed a small baggie containing what appeared to be a white powdery substance in the driver’s door armrest.
Harvey was arrested for the narcotics located in the vehicle and charged with possession of schedule II and drug paraphernalia. The drug paraphernalia consisted of a straw with residue on it along with dollar bills folded up with residue as well.
Harvey received a $1,500 bond and December 16 court date.
Martin said 1.16 grams of cocaine was located.
