Halifax County has climbed back up to the orange category which shows a substantial spread of COVID-19.
Halifax is one of only six counties in the orange category, which Health Director Bruce Robistow said this afternoon was anticipated. “As projected, the cold weather is causing folks to congregate more inside. This is a great opportunity for folks to get vaccinated to get to a herd immunity and decrease or eliminate the spikes throughout the year.”
With 38 new positive cases reported today, the total number of positive cases since March of last year stands at 8,107.
There have been 7,894 — 97.54 percent — patients who have recovered and there are 55 active patients. There have been 144 deaths related to the virus.
