The two victims of a fatal shooting this morning in Weldon have been identified as a Weldon woman and Garysburg man.

Weldon police Chief Christopher Davis said in a statement this afternoon that officers have contacted the families of Levita Romane Webb, 41, and Dexter O’Neal Miles, 52.

Davis said it is not clear what the relationship between Webb and Miles was but the third victim who is in stable condition is possibly related to Miles. Davis declined to immediately name the surviving victim.

The shooting occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. at Webb’s residence in the 400 block of Chestnut Street, Davis said. Motive in the shootings has still not been established. “We’re still trying to contact persons who were on the scene to give us more insight.”

There is still no suspect information, Davis said in the statement.

Earlier today Davis said the victims who died were found inside the residence while the third victim was found down the street in the general area after fleeing.

In an earlier statement Davis said officers arrived at the location of the shooting and learned three people had been shot.

Webb and Miles were pronounced dead at the scene.
