Two brothers wanted in a January 16 shooting death outside Windchase Apartments have surrendered and are in custody.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said Jonathan Brown, 33, surrendered to the police department shortly before 4:45 this evening. His bond or court date had not been set as of this report.

Joshua Brown, 34, surrendered to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office several days ago and received a $150,000 bond.

The police chief last week declined comment on the connection between the Brown brothers and the victim — Curtis Graham. He also declined to discuss a possible motive in the case.

He did say investigators established enough probable cause to file warrants for the arrest of Jonathan Brown on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder and Joshua Brown on a count of conspiracy to commit murder.

The shooting death of Graham occurred the evening of January 16 shortly before 11:30.

Officers responded to the apartment complex after receiving a call a person had been shot.

Officers located a person who had been shot multiple times and was unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
