The Halifax County Sheriff’s has leads it is following up on in a Saturday evening shooting in the area of Matthews Street.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall said the motive remains undetermined.

In a statement this afternoon Hall identified the shooting victim as 28-year-old Devon Rakin Jones of Roanoke Rapids.

He said Jones is in critical but stable condition at an undisclosed trauma center.

Deputies located Jones in open land with multiple gunshot wounds.

Northampton County Sheriff’s Office

Captain Patrick Jacobs reported on Friday shortly after 11:45 p.m. deputies responded to the Garysburg Housing Projects about a man who was shot.

Investigation showed 42-year-old Terrence Webb of Pleasant Hill was shot and pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation responded and is assisting with the investigation, the Roanoke-Chowan News Herald of Ahoskie reported.
