Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said a medicine Take Back program held at Drugco Express at Tenth Street and Park Avenue Saturday was a success.

He said approximately 50 pounds of pills were dropped off for proper disposal.

The day also gave the public a chance to visit Investigator Jamie Hardy who signed copies of the 2019 Vested Interest in K9s calendar he and his partner Storm appear in, both on the cover and for the month of September.

Those who are still interested in purchasing a calendar may contact Hardy through the police department at 252-533-2810.

Officer Hannah Grimes and her partner Jimi came to the event along with Leah Brewer and her therapy dog Elle and her husband Eric and his dog, Bruno.
