A man wanted for sexual assault of a teenager was apprehended by Roanoke Rapids police officers Tuesday night.

Chief Chuck Hasty confirmed Donald Faulcon Sr., 53, was apprehended at a residence on Jackson Street Extension around 9:15.

His relationship to the residence is not known, Hasty said.

Roanoke Rapids police turned Faulcon over the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the sheriff’s office also confirmed Faulcon was in custody and is currently jailed without opportunity for bond. He will await extradition to Virginia where he faces charges of sexual assault and rape involving a teenager.

Investigation into crimes allegedly committed by Faulcon in Halifax County continues, Hall said.

In a statement Monday Hall said the search for Faulcon began after the sheriff’s office received a report of a sexual assault of a teenage victim on June 17.

Investigation determined crimes not only reportedly occurred in North Carolina but Virginia.

On the effort to get Faulcon in custody, Hall said, “We are pleased with the cooperation from the community and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department in assisting in his capture.”
