A man who claimed to be an FBI agent preparing for a law enforcement raid and requested backup was arrested by the Northampton County Sheriff's Office Tuesday for misuse of 911.
The arrest of Donald Jerome Hughes, 51, of Garysburg stemmed from a matter Tuesday night in which he called 911 approximately eight times with no true emergency, Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr. said.
DeLoatch said Hughes, who had apparently been drinking, called 911 saying he was from Quantico and wanted to do a run-through of a house and then call local law enforcement in.
Sergeant C. Collier and Deputy M. Walton responded to take Hughes into custody.
The man, however, became belligerent and resisted.
He was eventually taken into custody and charged with misuse of 911 and resisting a public officer.
He received a $1,000 secured bond and October 20 court date.
Assault
DeLoatch reported on Sunday Sergeant W. James arrested Yaniisa High, 24, of Gaston on charges of simple assault, injury to real property and communicating threats.
DeLoatch said the matter stemmed from an argument between High and the victim occurring on Broughton Street in Gaston where High reportedly assaulted the victim while she was holding an infant in her arms.
The victim retreated into her residence and High allegedly kicked the door in, communicating threats.
High was placed in the Northampton County Detention Center with a $4,500 secured bond and a September 15 court date.
Drug arrest
Meanwhile, an eight-month long probe into drug complaints led to the arrest on July 31 of Charles Owen Pearson, 53, of Gaston.
The investigation led to charges of felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia against Pearson.
Sheriff Jack Smith in a statement commended the work of Lieutenant A. Thomas on the case.
