The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Chief Deputy Scott Hall:
On November 28, Detective R.M. Brown began investigating a series of larcenies in the Halifax/Littleton areas.
Brown learned Joseph Anthony Roberson, 25, of the Littleton area, reportedly committed larceny of a firearm from a farm shop.
Brown charged Roberson with larceny of a firearm.
With assistance of Warren County Sheriff’s Office detectives, the firearm was recovered from a pawn shop in their jurisdiction.
Roberson received a $2,500 bond and January 15 court date.
On December 5, Brown was contacted by a business owner from Vance County who was a victim of a larceny.
Brown recovered numerous tools from local pawn shops which belonged to the victim.
Brown charged Roberson with possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by false pretense.
He received a $15,000 bond for those crimes.
On December 5, Brown began an investigation into identity theft.
Detective Brown learned Shy’quon Brown, 21, of Roanoke Rapids, used another inmate’s PIN to make phone calls from the detention center.
The detective arrested and charged Shy’quon Brown with identity theft and obtaining property by false pretense.
He received a $5,000 bond and January 15 court date.
On December 9, Brown began an investigation into someone impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Brown learned Walton “Duke” Pittman, 70, of Enfield, posed as a North Carolina Wildlife Enforcement officer.
Pittman allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and communicated threats to him.
Brown arrested and charged Pittman with impersonating a law enforcement officer, communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun.
He received a $1,500 bond and January 15 court date.
