A man out on bond for a shooting last fall was arrested today by the City County Drug Task Force on marijuana-related charges.
The arrest of Cortez Devonte Sesson, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, was the culmination of a three-month investigation, said Agent D.R. Radford.
That investigation was fueled by citizen complaints and continued investigation by the agent.
Around 9 a.m., agents went to a residence on Carico Road off Highway 48 in the Rheasville community and served a search warrant.
Approximately 58 grams of marijuana was seized as well as paraphernalia that included a digital scale, plastic bags and four packs of Dutch Master cigars.
Radford charged Sesson with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; maintain a dwelling to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was jailed on $300,000 secured bond.
His girlfriend, Latressa Taylor, 30, was given a uniform citation for possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.
Sesson and Taylor both have April 22 court dates.
Sesson also has two pending court dates in Halifax County.
On March 25 he is scheduled to appear in court for charges of reckless driving to endanger; attempted second-degree murder; felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor going armed to the terror of the people.
Those charges stem from a shooting at the Waffle House in Weldon last September.
He is also scheduled to appear in court on April 17 for failing to comply with license restrictions.
Radford said the public is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 to report any drug activity.
