A traffic stop in Scotland Neck Wednesday yielded 99 hits of crack cocaine and the arrest of the car's driver.
Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Sergeant C.E. Carroll stopped a man later identified as James Major Battle, 23, for a motor vehicle violation near West Twelfth Street.
Continued investigation led to a search of the vehicle and the discovery of the individually wrapped rocks, Hall said, the approximate estimated street value being around $1,980.
Carroll charged Battle, of Scotland Neck, with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine; felony possession of cocaine; felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; fictitious registration plate and fail to register a vehicle.
Battle posted $5,000 bond and was given an April 15 court date.
