Rural Health Group announced its plans today to host a ribbon-cutting and grand re-opening celebration for its clinic located on the Halifax Regional Medical Center campus on December 12 at 1 p.m.

The new 3,000 square-foot medical office was designed to further meet the growing healthcare needs of the community while continuing to provide excellent high quality healthcare.

“When Rural Health Group originally opened a clinic on the Halifax Regional Medical Center campus in 2013, our goal was to help reduce the number of people going to the emergency room for services that could be performed in an outpatient clinic setting,” said Yvonne Long-Gee, CEO of Rural Health Group. “The medical office has been successful in reducing non-urgent emergency department visits and repeat hospital stays, enabling the hospital ED to focus on more urgent (or) emergent patients.”

The new medical office was designed to enrich the overall patient experience and includes six exam rooms and is located next to the hospital’s Emergency Room entrance.

The event is open to the public.

Founded in 1974, Rural Health Group grew out of a community collaboration of concerned citizens to provide low-cost and free health care services to people living in Northeastern North Carolina.

Rural Health Group continues to be recognized as a national leader in patient quality with 18 medical facilities, three dental offices and three in-house pharmacies located across a five-county region.
