Two Roanoke Rapids residents face charges following a vehicle stop in Enfield Friday.

Enfield police Chief Tyree Davis said in a statement Officer Keith Lawrence stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation.

He encountered Deryck Bennett, 25, and Kenya Potts, 22.

Lawrence smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and subsequently conducted a vehicle search.

He found a small amount of marijuana in Bennett’s possession. He also found Potts in possession of a concealed firearm.

Bennett was cited for possession of marijuana.

Lawrence discovered Potts did not have a concealed carry permit and that the firearm was stolen from Greensboro.
