A Halifax man was charged Friday in a motor vehicle breaking and entering that occurred earlier this month in the Roanoke Rapids area.

Detective Willie Murphy Jr. of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Thomas Wayne Martin, 23, faces charges of breaking or entering a motor vehicle; larceny of a firearm; felony larceny, possession of stolen goods; possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges, Murphy said, stem from an investigation where a firearm and various electronics were take from the vehicle.

Murphy reportedly recovered stolen property from Martin's home.

He was jailed on $3,500 bond and has an October 22 court date.
