A autopsy is pending this week to determine how long the body of a man found in an abandoned Enfield building may have been dead and how he died.
Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said the body of the man was found today around 1 p.m. at a building on Pope Street. Enfield police received the report and requested the sheriff's office investigate.
The body was decomposing. Sheriff's office investigators processed the scene and conducted multiple interviews.
Investigation is under way to determine the cause of death and whether foul play may have been involved.
The sheriff's office is also attempting to identify the man found in the building.
