A man wanted for a series of residential break-ins in Roanoke Rapids was arrested Sunday night in Garysburg where a domestic dispute erupted involving one of his relatives.

Devonte Hudson, 24, who also goes by Vonte Hudson, was turned over to Halifax County law enforcement, Captain Chuck Hasty of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office said today.

Roanoke Rapids Police Department Detective Frankie Griffin said Hudson faces a charge of breaking and entering and larceny. He and Keshawn Boswell, who has not been arrested, are reportedly suspected in numerous break-ins in the city, Griffin said last week.

Hudson was at Circle Drive in Garysburg around 11 p.m. when Northampton deputies responded to a domestic dispute.

Deputies Patrick Jacobs and David Twine investigated and learned both parties claimed they had been assaulted in the dispute. Both had minor injuries, Hasty said.

Jacobs arrested and charged Devonte Williams, 27, of Garysburg, with assault on a female. He charged Beonca Shante Hudson, 24, of Garysburg, with assault. Both were given $500 bonds and September 29 court dates.

Jacobs also arrested Devonte Hudson on the outstanding Roanoke Rapids charges after recognizing his address from information passed on by Roanoke Rapids police. “Sharing information between departments is very important in finding and arresting these suspects,” Hasty said in a statement. “Communicating with each department openly is the only way we can keep all citizens safe.”
