A morning wreck call today led to the discovery of 113 grams of cocaine and the seizure of more than $16,000 in currency.
Captain Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that shortly before 8:15 this morning, Deputy Phillip Moyer received a call about a single-vehicle crash in the Highway 561 area of Hollister.

He identified the passenger as 55-year-old Danny Lee Webb of Roanoke Rapids, who was standing outside the vehicle. The driver was inside with an ankle injury.
Harris said Moyer noticed that Webb was reportedly acting suspicious and had a bag tucked under his arm.
During the conversation with Moyer, Webb reportedly decided to run, throwing items from the bag. Webb, however, was taken into custody. Moyer, who was assisted by Corporal Emerson Carroll, seized approximately 113 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, a box of plastic bags and more than $16,000 in United States currency.
Webb was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, trafficking cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance and resisting a public officer.
He was given a $10,000 secured bond with an October 2 court date.
Moyer continues to investigate and more arrests are anticipated. “Deputy Moyer remained focused during this incident, which resulted in the seizure of narcotics and U.S. currency,” Harris said in the statement.
