A Roanoke Rapids man and woman were charged with heroin possession early this morning, city police said.

Manning
Officer Roy Ball stopped 17-year-old Logan Taylor Manning for an equipment violation near Carter Street, according to Chief Andy Jackson. The equipment violation was a broken taillight on the Chevrolet pickup she was driving.
Officer Gerald Morris assisted Ball in the investigation, where Manning, of Jefferson Street, allegedly turned over four green baggies containing heroin and reportedly had another baggie on her. An additional baggie was found under the passenger seat for a total of .60 grams of heroin.
Manning faces charges of of felony possession of schedule I, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin and no operators license.
She was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a September 10 court date.

Medlin
Meanwhile, Ryan Nathaniel Medlin, 20, also of Jefferson Street, was charged with felony possession of heroin and was jailed on $48,000 bond. He has the same court date as Manning.
Medlin has pending court dates on other criminal charges in Halifax County, according to court records.
