Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck will have summer programming for youth this year. Programs will serve children 6- to 12-years-old and will include a wide range of topics.

The day camp program will offer one-day programs that focus on topics that include recycling, watersheds, waterfowl, and insects.

The day will include instruction, physical activity, crafts, animal presentations and a tour of a portion of the park.

Parents can select one day in the four-day series or select all four days and receive a price discount. Sylvan Heights will be partnering with other educational agencies to offer off-site excursions, traveling to the NC Zoo in Asheboro to participate in an overnight Zoo Snooze Experience as well as tour the facility.

In August the park will take a group to the NC Estuarium for a wetlands program and tour.

Both excursions will include a Sylvan Heights Bird program as well.

According to Lee Peoples, education coordinator at Sylvan Heights, “Children will delight in nature as they engage in hands-on, interactions with our education animals and discover the outdoors at Sylvan Heights.”
