A man who thought the Northampton County Sheriff's Office would give him a ride back to Charlotte allegedly concocted a story that he was taken to Garysburg against his will.
Captain Chuck Hasty said the sheriff's office responded to a kidnapping call Sunday on Sandy Lane.
Deputy Patrick Jacobs and Gaston police Officer Mike Boone learned that Davidson Neville Henderson Jr., 18, of Charlotte, claimed he was hit in the head while leaving his residence and woke up in Northampton County after being removed from the trunk of a car.
Jacobs and Investigator Bo Deloatch started looking into this claim and contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to assist with the investigation.
During the investigation it was determined that Henderson was picked up and left voluntarily with a friend from Northampton County where spent the weekend.
Hasty said Henderson reportedly filed the report, hoping the sheriff's office would give him a ride back to Charlotte. Instead he was charged with filing a false report and misuse of the 911 System.
He was given a $3,000 bond and a July 7 court date.
