Two Roanoke Rapids men have been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at Bobby's Number 2, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Detective Bobby Martin said 21-year-old Tyre Leseney and 20-year-old Wesle Pugh both face a count each of attempted common law robbery.

They each received $5,000 bonds and have June 25 court dates.
The arrests stem from an investigation where the two men were allegedly intent on robbing the store the evening of May 8 until the clerk advised them she had pushed the panic button.
A man who reportedly observed the men getting ready for the robbery chased them on foot after they fled the store and continued until it appeared they reached for something. The man never entered the store, Martin said, correcting a previously published account.
Video footage does not show a weapon, but Martin said the men allegedly acted like they did have one.
