Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputies early this morning arrested a man reportedly breaking into a car on Three Bridges Road outside Roanoke Rapids.
The call was reported shortly before 1:45, corporals Emerson Carroll and Jason Keeter responding.
Dispatchers reported that the alleged suspect, later identified as Kevin Marquette Seabron, may have left the scene.
Carroll and Keeter arrived minutes after the call and observed a man reportedly matching Seabron's description walking in the area, dressed in all black and carrying a yellow bag.
The contents of the bag, according to Major Scott Hall, included food items allegedly taken from the vehicle, as well as the yellow bag itself.
The witness reportedly identified Seabron, and the stolen property.
Seabron, 28, of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He was jailed on $2,500 secured bond, and assigned a May 19 court date.
“I think it was a job well done and mighty good sheriff's work,” Hall said of the response time and the arrest.
