The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a local man for his alleged role in fraud crimes that took place in the Roanoke Rapids area.

Demetrius Hawkins, 42, turned himself in on March 27, according to a statement from Detective Chris Scott.

His son was arrested earlier that day.

Hawkins was processed for felony charges of three counts of obtain property by false pretenses, three counts of aid and abet obtain property by false pretenses, one count of possession of stolen goods, and one count of contributing to delinquency of a juvenile.

Hawkins was placed under an $8,000 bond and is awaiting an April 30 court date.
