The Roanoke Rapids Police Department has developed persons of interest in two Village Grocery robberies that occurred less than three weeks apart.

Video footage, Captain O.L. Morgan said this morning, shows that there may be different people involved because of size differences.

Morgan said investigators at this point can't determine whether the persons of interest were working together or whether the crimes may have been copycats.

The last robbery of the store near KapStone, and the Roanoke Canal Museum, occurred around 6:15 the evening of February 6 when a man dressed in a camouflage coat, a stocking cap over his face and dark gloves entered the store, possibly brandishing a large knife. He was also wearing jeans and a multi-colored flannel shirt.

The first robbery occurred around 7 p.m. on January 26 when a person believed to be a white male entered the store with a handgun and demanded money. The clerk complied and the man, dressed in camouflage that concealed his face, left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The man stood 5-feet, 8-inches tall and wore a camouflage coat, camouflage hoodie as well as camouflage garb that covered his face. He also wore blue jeans.
