Sheetz has submitted site plans for a store at the former location of Ryan's on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Plans call for the store, which will have a restaurant, drive-through and car wash to be built on 2.29 total acres. The store itself will have a gross floor area of 6,489 square-feet and 61 parking spaces.

Roanoke Rapids Planning and Development Director Kelly Lasky said the plans will be reviewed by several city departments that make up a review committee, as well as Dominion, the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District and the site engineer.

The desire of the company is to enter an agreement with ABC Store to have a shared driveway.

Lasky said no timetable was given for construction, but the company plans to build the store under its most up-to-date construction design.
