An early Monday morning argument on Harris Street led to a stabbing, according to Roanoke Rapids police.
The victim was stabbed approximately five times with a knife, receiving wounds on the right side, back shoulder and back.
Police learned of the call when Halifax Regional Medical Center reported the treatment of a victim with multiple stab wounds shortly before 12:15 a.m.
Initial investigation by Officer J.A. Salmon led him to 523 Harris Street where he learned Carlious Lynch physically hit someone's vehicle, which led to an altercation between with the victim, who did not own the car in question.
Lynch allegedly threatened to hit the car again, then poured beer on it and threw the bottle on the ground. This led to a fight where the victim was stabbed.
Lynch was charged with assault with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and jailed on $20,000 bond.
While assisting with the investigation, Sergeant Mike Moseley discovered a crack pipe inside the residence and charged Norman Pulley with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Pulley received a $500 bond and February 21 court date.
The victim was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently in stable condition.
