A New Year's morning fight resulted in gunfire outside an Enfield club and injury to a man at a nearby residence who was struck in the hand.
Lieutenant Jerry Powell of the Enfield Police Department said the motive is unclear and at this point there are no suspects.
Officers were dispatched to K's Lounge on South McDaniel Street shortly before 2 a.m.
They determined five shots were fired from one semiautomatic handgun and a nearby residence was struck, the bullet striking an occupant, who was identified as Willie L. Solomon. Solomon was struck in the hand and transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids where he was treated and later released.
A nearby Toyota pickup was struck and a Lincoln Town Car was damaged during another altercation that occurred in the parking lot.
Spent shells were recovered in the parking in front of the club.
Investigators with the police department and state Alcohol Law Enforcement are seeking the identity of the shooter.
