Eric Bracy, current superintendent of the Northampton County School System, has accepted the position of superintendent in Sampson County, according to a published report.

Bracy received unanimous support from the Sampson County Board of Education following a brief closed session Thursday.

Bracy has been superintendent in Northampton County for the past five and a half years, beginning his career as a fourth grade teacher. He moved through the ranks, becoming an assistant principal and later a principal at elementary and middle schools.

In an interview with clintonnc.com following the meeting, Bracy said, “We are excited that, as of today, we will be part of the Sampson County schools family.”

According to the account, Bracy will begin work February 1 and will earn an annual salary of $135,000.
