The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Bobby Martin:

Saturday shortly after 1 a.m., officers were called to the Roanoke Rapids Theatre to ride through because of a large crowd and to make sure there were no issues as people headed to their vehicles.

As officers assisted venue security, one person wanted to go back inside but was denied because they had no ID and were in an intoxicated state.

Officers tried to the person, identified as Delvonte Arrington, 31, of the Roanoke Rapids area, into a vehicle but he continued to cause issues and Lieutenant T. Tyler placed him under arrest.

Arrington was charged with resist, delay, and obstruct and disorderly conduct. He was placed under $2,000 bond and received a November 15 court date.

Sergeant R. Cross, and officers J. Wind and C. Roberts assisted.

 

Sunday shortly before 10:45 a.m., Officer D. Newsome was stationary in the area of Duke Street when he saw a vehicle approach him at a high rate of speed.  

Newsome pulled out behind the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. 

The driver did not stop for the officer’s blue lights or siren and did not stop for stop signs. 

The driver continued on Gregory Drive onto Old Farm Road, failing to stop for the stop signs there.

The driver continued to overtake vehicles and travel at a high rate of speed until finally stopping at Highway 125 near Interstate 95.

Newsome placed the driver, identified as Brittany Petticolas, 19, of Roanoke Rapids, under arrest. 

Master Officer M. Hunsucker and his dog Dubai arrived to assist. 

The canine alerted positive for the presence of narcotics. 

Marijuana and paraphernalia were located.

The driver was charged with felony speed to elude, possession of schedule VI, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and reckless driving to endanger others and property. 

Petticolas was placed under a $2,000 bond with a Wednesday court date.

Lieutenant J. Baggett and Deputy B.J. Murphy of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

 

Thursday shortly before 6:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of T.J. Davis Recreation Center near the baseball field parking lot on a wreck call. 

Officers were told the driver got out of the vehicle and looked unsteady on his feet. 

Officer C. Hagbourne arrived to investigate and officers C. Batchelor and H. Grimes assisted.

The driver was identified as Steven Landen, 37, from the Roanoke Rapids area. 

Officers took Landen into custody under the suspicion he was driving while impaired. 

He was transported to the magistrate’s office where he was charged with DWI.

He received a $500 bond and October 10 court date.
