An afternoon traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 43 grams of marijuana and the arrest of one and the citation of another.
Lieutenant Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement narcotics agents S.G. Page and D.C. Dickens were in the area of Highway 4 and Airlie Road shortly before 1:45 this afternoon when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.The agents were assisted by sheriff's Corporal Willie Murphy Jr. and Trooper D.P. Efird of the state Highway Patrol.
The agents identified the occupants as Kawon Mitchell, 32, and Shequena Sherika Jefferson, 22, both of Hollister.
During a consent search of the vehicle, Page seized approximately 41 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, a box of plastic bags, two White Owl cigars and two rolled blunts.
Jefferson was cited for possessing marijuana up to a half ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mitchell was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle, place or dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a December 4 court date.
