Two Roanoke Rapids men with a past history and criminal record for motor vehicle break-ins were arrested again Thursday morning, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Crigler, left, and Carroll.

James Dean Crigler, 27, and Lawrence Dustin Carroll, 23, face four counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, three counts of misdemeanor larceny and three counts of possession of stolen goods.

The latest charges against the pair, according to Captain Rich Somogyi, stem from a 3 a.m. call from the Greenbriar Subdivision after the victim saw the interior light of her vehicle come on.

Lieutenant Tim Harris and Sergeant Greg Richardson responded and approached the area on foot, both observing two people inside a vehicle. The two were taken into custody.

Meanwhile, deputies Harold Phillips and Willie Murphy went to the area and located several other vehicles that had been broken into.

Items allegedly found in the possession of Crigler and Carroll were returned to their rightful owners.

Somogyi said the men are being investigated for possible ties to other motor vehicle break-ins and additional arrests and charges are expected.

They were jailed on $75,000 bond and have September 18 court dates.
