Artist Elizabeth Porch of Roanoke Rapids, along with the help of fellow artists Heather Bryant and Danika Mosher, has completely renewed the south wall of City Hall with four new murals covering old ones which were worn and dismal.

Her new artwork is brightly colored, expertly detailed, and showcases the rich history of Roanoke Rapids, according to a statement.

"I hope it helps to show the beauty of this town — it's got so much history, and I wanted to bring it to life," says Porch. The murals depict mill houses in a summer sunset, Roanoke Rapids High School in winter, and more.

Elizabeth was assisted by her father Matt Porch, mother Dawn Porch, grandfather Edward Porch, and sister Tori Porch, as well as Joshua Gardner, and Carla Gardner.

>p>City Hall will be touching up around the murals soon and/or adding frames.

This project was partially sponsored by The Music School of Roanoke Rapids. City Hall and the Public Works Department made the hanging possible.
