Mayor Emery Doughtie and Councilwoman Suetta Scarbrough filed today to run for their seats on Roanoke Rapids city council in the November 5 municipal elections.
Councilman Greg Lawson’s seat is also open but he has indicated he will not seek reelection. He could not be reached for comment this afternoon.
“We’re excited about continuing the work we have initiated over the last four years,” Doughtie said after filing. “We just look forward to serving the citizens of Roanoke Rapids and the Roanoke Valley for an additional four years.”
Said Scarbrough, “We do want to continue that work and appreciate the support.”
