Editor’s note: rrspin.com continues its look at the five people who have submitted their names for consideration for the appointment to fill the unexpired term of Halifax County Sheriff Jeff Frazier. rrspin.com submitted the questions to all five and will be running them in alphabetical order. The answers are published as submitted with only grammar, spelling and style edits. Comments are closed on these profiles. Friday we conclude the series with the profile of James Warren.
Name: Wes Tripp

Residence: 902 Virginia Avenue, Roanoke Rapids
Why do you want to be sheriff?
Chief Deputy Tripp sent us his resume, which answers this question and lists his achievements, citations and professional awards. That document may be found in an attachment file at the end of his profile.
If you are not appointed sheriff by the board of commissioners will you still file to run?
Yes
Knowing this position is only to fill an unexpired term, do you envision making any immediate changes in personnel and administration or do you leave things as they are until after the primary or general election? Please elaborate.
Before the end of this term, there are several retirements planned to include the Sheriff’s. If I receive the appointment, I welcome the opportunity to meet with the County Manager to discuss the possibility of absorbing/restructuring the Administration in ways to increase the entry level pay for starting deputy pay without asking for a tax increase.
What are your goals and objectives in this position?
To continue to serve the citizens of Halifax County with fair and equal law enforcement without diminishing the integrity and mission of the Sheriff Office.
