Three people have officially put in their names for consideration to be appointed to fill the unexpired term of Halifax County Sheriff Jeff Frazier.
Halifax County Manager Tony Brown confirmed this morning that current Chief Deputy Wes Tripp is in the running, which was already known after the sheriff made his announcement last month.
The two others are Weldon Police Chief Mark Macon and James Warren, a former high-ranking officer within the sheriff's office before his retirement. Warren also unsuccessfully ran against Frazier in the May 2006 primaries.
Brown said he would make a recommendation on how the appointment process needs to work by the board of commissioners’ next meeting.
