Two houses fired into early last Sunday morning in Enfield are not believed to the intended targets, according to the town’s police department.
The houses, one on Southwest Railroad Street and the other on West Alsop Street were occupied at the time, Lieutenant Jerry Powell said. No one was injured and the police department is offering a $1,000 reward for information on the matter.
Bullets from an AK went through a living room window at one residence and at the other residence went through a bedroom wall and crossed over where residents were sleeping. The bullets went through another wall above their heads. Bullets at that residence also went through a front wall into the living room, then through a chair in the den and exited through the opposite wall, Powell said.
Multiple rounds were fired each time, Powell noted in a press release.
“These houses were total innocent bystanders,” Powell said. “I believe they were shooting at somebody else and the houses were just backstops.”
Powell said police do not believe this was a drive-by shooting.
The Enfield Police Department is actively pursuing leads.
