Halifax County Sheriff’s Office drug agents late this afternoon seized slightly more than a pound of marijuana from a house on Radar Circle.
Lieutenant Bobby Martin said the agents acted on a tip today that came through the Wilson Police Department and Nash County Sheriff’s Office about Jermaine Jones, who lives in Radar Circle.
Martin said information from those two agencies as well as the Roanoke Rapids Police Department was crucial in Jones’ arrest.
The sheriff’s office received information today about narcotics information at the house and through further investigation secured a search warrant for the residence.
The sheriff’s office seized 512 grams of marijuana and charged Jones, 29, with felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, place or vehicle to keep a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
Jones, who has a past criminal record, was jailed on $50,000 bond and has a June 5 court date.
Martin said it is not clear whether Jones may allegedly be selling in other parts of the region because of the help provided by Wilson and Nash County. He said it is unclear how long Jones has allegedly been involved in the drug trade.
The arrest, he said, and the cooperation from the other agencies, “Was a good team effort in getting illegal narcotics off the street.”
