Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputies Tuesday picked up Andre Lamont Story, 22, of Roanoke Rapids and Jamarkus Daquan Brown, 20, of Weldon.

Captain James Avens of the Weldon Police Department said the police department has charged the men with first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous, second-degree kidnapping, communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun.

They were jailed on $300,000 bonds and have February 6 court dates.

The police department continues to look for Tavio Lamont Taylor, 28, of Garysburg, who frequents areas in Weldon, Roanoke Rapids and Garysburg.

Taylor, according to Avens, was allegedly the person who went to a residence on Allen Street across from Weldon High School around 10 p.m. and knocked on the door and asked the homeowner if he had any bud, a nickname for marijuana.

The homeowner said he didn’t but Story and Brown, allegedly wearing ski masks, rushed into the house, one with an assault rifle and the other with a handgun. They forced the homeowner and his girlfriend to floor, telling them not to call the police or they would kill them. The homeowner and his girlfriend were allegedly robbed of cash, cell phones and a 19-inch flat screen television.

They left the house and were last seen running down Allen Street and cutting across toward Mackie Street.

Investigation led Avens to determine the identities of the suspects and draw up warrants for their arrests.

Taylor faces the same charges as Story and Brown with the exception of communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun.
