The Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold its 63rd Annual Meeting on January 24 at The Centre at Halifax Community College in Weldon from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The evening event will feature honors, networking opportunities during the social hour, dinner and speaker presentations.
This year, Ricky Brown, senior executive vice president of community banking, will share his experiences managing 1,800 branches for BB&T. He will speak on the economy and the future of banking.

Brown has more than 35 years of banking experience. He has served as business services officer in New Bern and Morehead City, corporate banker in Wilmington, city executive in New Bern and Winston-Salem, regional president of BB&T Charlotte Metro Region and Group President of the Washington, D.C. Metro Region. He was named as BB&T’s banking network manager in 2004.
Also, Rick Niswander will return to speak on the state of the economy.
Niswander is the vice chancellor for administration and finance at East Carolina University.
He has taught international, intermediate, and introductory financial accounting, as well as a graduate accounting course that encompasses tax, financial, cost and governmental. He holds a Ph.D. in accounting from Texas A&M University and a BSBA in accounting from Idaho State University.
