Halifax Academy was on lockdown late Wednesday afternoon after a student made a threat to another student.

Chief Deputy Wes Tripp of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office declined to go into details about the threat but did say the student, a juvenile, who made them, was not at school. He declined to name the gender of the student.

The sheriff’s office sent deputies to the school around 2 p.m. and they stayed until school let out.

Deputies were sent to the school this morning for precautionary measures until school went into session.

Tripp said the sheriff’s office continues to investigate the matter.
