A man who crashed into a tree while riding an unlicensed dirt bike was arrested on drug and driving violations Sunday.
Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Wes Tripp said around 4:50 p.m. Sergeant R. Keeton attempted to stop Mark Anthony Jones who was allegedly driving recklessly in the Ransome Circle and Country Club Road area of Weldon.
Jones, 39, crossed the centerline on both roads. Keeton turned on his blue lights and sounded his siren as Jones allegedly attempted to flee.
The chase ended when Jones crashed into a tree on Ransome Circle.
He surrendered and faces charges of felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless and reckless driving and driving while license revoked.
He was placed on $1,000 bond and has a January 23 court date.
